“I think of memes as just like paintings, film, any type of media… They reflect and amplify all aspects of humanity, the worst in us, the best in us.” -an xiao mina, Meedan. A meme that I thought of upon observing this interview with An Xiao Mina wasn’t any specific meme in particular, but memes that regard Joe Biden in a negative light. Memes that show him as creepy, misogynistic, or that he’s “slow and old.” This is difficult for me to see as some of this information may not be necessarily entirely factual. I learned that “filter bubbles” shouldn’t be regarded as good or bad things. These filter bubbles directly involve only seeing people we agree with and have a role if you are marginalized in authoritarian countries. These filter bubbles can lead to movements such as the #metoo movement through these hashtags and memes respectively.

An example of one of my favorite memes.
